This week, one lucky dog miraculously survived after he got lost in the Gulf of Mexico for 3 hours.
A Jack Russell Terrier named Jagermeister fell overboard in the gulf from his owner’s boat. The poor dog had been swimming for about three hours when two couples found the struggling dog.
Bruce Knecht and his wife, Robin, were in a birthday boat trip off the coast of Hernando beach with their friends Michael and Shawn Sahr. When the group was about five miles offshore, Bruce spotted something moving in the waters.
“I spotted something in the water and thought it was a buoy, then I said, ‘Oh my gosh. Something is moving,’” Bruce Knecht told Fox 13.

The group then realized that the moving thing they were seeing was actually a dog wearing an orange life vest. The Jack Russell then paddled closer to the group’s boat and they were able to pull the exhausted pup to safety.
“You just saw his little nose sticking up out of the water,” Shawn Sahr said. “If we weren’t as close as we were, within 5 to 10 feet, we wouldn’t have seen him.”
When the couples radioed the Coast Guard to report what happened, they learned that someone had already reported their dog falling overboard three hours earlier.

The group then took Jagermeister to thenearest Coast Guard station, where he reunited with his owner, according to Fox 13.
The owner was so delighted he could not stop his tears. He thinks his dog fell in the water while he was below deck. He said he searched for the dog, but he just couldn’t see him. He thought he had lost him forever.
“It was just a miraculous day,” Bruce’s wife Robin said. And we all agree.
