When the poor dog arrived at Dr. Karri’s clinic, he had a couple of puncture wounds on his head, but it was his tail that was the most serious issue. It looked terrible. There was no skin at all on the tail and even his anus was exposed!

Dr. Karri said the 9-month-old pup has what is know as a de-gloving injury.

“Because it’s like you took a glove and just ripped it off, so that skin is all ripped off and gone,” the veterinarian said pointing to the pup’s behind.

The vet admitted that the pup’s condition was a hard challenge since there was no skin to close and suture up.

After checking Orin’s condition further, Dr. Karri though it would be best to amputate the pup’s tail. But the biggest challenge was how to fix the pup’s anus because it also had no skin to cover it.

When the pup’s tail had been amputated, the vet moved on to his anus and tucked it down gently so she could attach it to the pup’s skin once it was healed enough for a second surgery.

Orin’s injury slowly healed. The vet did her best to fix the pup’s rear end and everything was looking great until the pup managed to reach his sutures and pull them out. Dr. Karri said there’s nothing to worry about since Orin’s injury was already a lot better than when he first came in.
