A dog with wire embedded in his neck got the help and love he needed thanks to the care and effort of Greek Animal Rescue.
As in many countries, there are many stray dogs in Greece and they are often abused. Paris was one of those unlucky dogs.
When Ermioni found Paris in the streets of Karditsa, he was terrified of people. Ermioni knew they had to act fast and get the poor dog to the veterinarian.
“The wire around his neck was so tight it created a huge hole to his trachea,” Ermioni said.
They believe that Paris was still a puppy when someone put a wire around his neck.
Paris was rushed to a veterinarian’s clinic where the wire was removed from his neck. Things didn’t look good. The wound around his neck had been open for so long that infection had already set in. The road to recovery was going to be a long one.
For two months, Ermioni and the Greek Animal Rescue team took great care of Paris. And when the dog finally received surgery, he felt less pain and started to eat – a lot .
When Paris was found, he was just skin and bones. But under the rescue team’s care, he gained 20 kilos in just a matter of months.
After living in the streets for months, Paris was left with long-lasting psychological effects of abuse. But at the gentle hands of Ermioni and the Greek Animal Rescue, he is recovering – one day at a time.
So far, he has learned to receive the love from the people around him.
Paris still needs a home and his caretakers are hoping that someone somewhere in the world will see Paris for who he truly is – a good boy who just wants to be loved.
