One extremely terrified Pit Bull learned to trust again thanks to Hope for Paws!
Julie Maigret had been looking after and feeding the homeless dog for weeks. She had tried to gain the poor dog’s trust but was not succeeding so she called Hope for Paws for help.
The team arrived on a wet day and found the Pit Bull taking shelter in a garage.
Lisa and Julie teamed up and prepared soccer nets to secure the dog inside the garage.
But when the pup saw Lisa, Julie, and Eldad coming her way, she immediately tried to dash out to escape. Luckily, they were able to catch the terrified dog using two soccer nets and a snare.
Confused and extremely frightened, Eden cried out in distress. She didn’t know what to do.
As Eden whined and the look in her eyes was so heartbreaking. The dog was so scared she couldn’t stop shaking!
The Pit Bull tried to escape for a second time, but her rescuers managed to prevent this. Lisa and Eldad both slipped as they prevented her getting away.
With everyone, including the Pit Bull, lying on the floor, they sat quietly hoping to gain Eden’s trust and show her that they were there to help. The poor dog was still shaking like crazy.
But there’s no amount of fear that love cannot ease. With lots of patience, gentleness and love, the rescuers talked calmly and lovingly to the scared pup. Soon Eldad was able to put the Lucky Leash around the dog’s neck.
He eventually got to pet Eden too – first from a distance with a broomstick. With loving strokes and gentle words, Eldad slowly earned Eden’s trust and soon was able to pet her with his bare hands! Although the fear was still clear in her eyes, it was also clear how much she liked it.
Although a lot calmer, the Pit Bull was still a afraid so they decided to put her in a cage. Once inside, Eden immediately felt a lot more secure.
When they arrived at the vet, Eden changed completely. She started snuggling up to her rescuers, and became the sweet dog everyone knew she secretly was.
Now, the Pit Bull is living with a loving foster family and has even found herself a boyfriend there, a pup named Jack Potts.
Eden now feels safe and is now able to share all that wonderful dog love within her.
