Has your dog been skunked? Here’s a simple an effective skunk spray remedy for dogs!
Dogs are inherently curious creatures. Our four legged buddies put their noses everywhere – literally. They love to follow interesting sounds and smell everything they detect. That means chasing squirrels, little critters, and stink bombs aka skunks.
But do not get us wrong, dogs do not like skunk spray in its purest form. They hate it as much as we do so here’s a simple yet effective remedy to wash away the stench.
These are things you will need:
- a quart of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide.
- a quarter-cup baking soda.
- a teaspoon or two of liquid soap.
Mix them together and apply the solution on your dog’s fur and voila—the stink will almost immediately be gone. You should apply the mixture outside so as to not let the stink inside your home.
So how does it work? According to MythBusters:
The oxygen molecules in the soapy solution neutralized the skunk scent by bonding to those terrible thiols. By altering that chemical makeup, this stink-fighting antidote made the smell quickly disappear.
