The Rottweiler was originally developed in Germany and was mainly used to drive cattle to marke and to pull carts for butchers. This breed was one of the first used by the military forces and police. The average height of a Rottweiler is 1 foot, 10 inches to 2 feet, 3 inches weighing about 85 to 130 pounds. They have a lifespan of 8 to 11 years.


Originally developed in Germany as a working dog used to herd cattle and pull carts the Rottweiler has become nowadays one of the most popular family companion all around the world. This breed has great guarding skills and it is widely used by police and military forces all around the world. The Rottweiler loves all the energy demanding activities like fly-ball, Frisbee, running, swimming and many others. If he is left alone more than a few hours a day he can become bored and might become very loud and destructive. The Rottweiler is a great watchdog because he is very reserved with strangers and will always let you know when a stranger is approaching your property. He is known to behave well when children are around but very small children should always be well supervised when they encounter any type of dog breed because they might have the tendency to tease and no dog will accept that. Basic obedience training and early socialization are very important in this case and can make a big difference if you want to have an obedient dog that will always follow your instructions.

Rottweiler Training:

Rottweiler is a very intelligent dog breed. They can learn new commands very quickly which makes them quite easy to train. Usually they enjoy any type of activity so training will not be a problem for them. In fact it can be something that they will really enjoy.

Rottweiler Shedding:

To be honest, the Rottweiler is shedding a lot of hair. You cannot do anything to stop this but if you want to prevent having hair all over your home you should do proper brushing every day. Keep in mind that with a proper brushing you will rarely find hair on your couch, carpets and other places in your home.

Rottweiler Grooming:

The Rottweiler, like many other dog breeds, need daily exercise. Don’t worry, those needs can be met quite easy with simple walks or playing some fun games. His coat needs to be shaped two or three months and proper brushing should be done every now and then.

Rottweiler History:

The Rottweiler was originally developed in Germany and was mainly used to drive cattle to market and to guard home, shops and other objectives. This breed was developed from a mastiff-type dog breed called the Molossus. Nowadays the Rottweiler is a loving family companion and in the same time a fearless guard dog always ready to protect his master.
