This breed has an alert expression and keen senses. They are extraordinarily agile and energetic. The breed is considered to be the best performing medium-sized sheepdog. They are a compact and muscular dog breed and are extremely versatile and capable.

 

Australian Kelpie Temperament

This dog breed is a loyal and faithful companion. The breed has a mild manner in the home environment, but is very intense in the working environment. They are not extremely affectionate dogs and normally bond with only one person. They are extremely devoted and pleasant to their master. This breed gets along well with children, but tends to herd other dogs, pets and animals. This dog breed requires occasional brushing. To preserve the natural oils of the coat and skin, the Kelpie should only be bathed when absolutely necessary. Dental hygiene is essential for this breed. The breed is prone to Progressive Retinal Atrophy.
